F1 testing- Barcelona
27th February – 2nd March and 7th – 10th March
This will be the first opportunity to see the new generation of cars and the first time that we get a hint as to which drivers and teams will come out on top under the new regulations. Although the cars are unlikely to be reliable or setting really quick laps, a mix up of the rules always leads to a surprise or two and it will be interesting to see if it is Mercedes, Ferrari, or even Haas, lighting up the timing screens.
World Rally Championship- Mexico
Thierry Neuville has been exceedingly unlucky to come away from the first two rallies of 2017 only eighth place in the standings. He has been dominant up until the incidents that have ruined his chances of taking the win. Will he be able to manage Rally Mexico without any costly mistakes? Jari-Matti Latvala has taken an early lead in the championship but it is all to play for as the WRC heads to their first fly away rally of the year.
After four painfully long months, the F1 season will go into full swing as the cars start up for the first time in earnest in Melbourne. We’ll finally get all the questions answered that have been piling up over the winter. How will Valtteri Bottas fare with three times world champion Lewis Hamilton as his teammate? Which teams are going to thrive under the new regulations? And how much will the loss of a certain Mr Ecclestone really be felt?
With nine different winners 2016 was widely accepted as the best ever season of MotoGP. It remains to be seen if this year can live up to last. Jorge Lorenzo has plenty to prove at Ducati, and the battles between Maverick Vinales and Valentino Rossi, as well as Marc Marquez will be something to watch. Rookies Johann Zaro and Sam Lowes were both champions in the support classes and it will be exciting to see what impact they can have in the championship.
